Terms of Use

Last updated 3 August 2026

These Terms govern use of Gleam It, a member marketplace for exchanging pre-loved children’s goods using Gleam Points. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18, legally capable of contracting, and provide accurate information. One person must not operate deceptive or duplicate accounts. Keep credentials secure and promptly report suspected misuse.

2. Marketplace role

Gleam It provides listing, messaging, points, and exchange workflow tools. Members - not Gleam It - own, describe, inspect, deliver, and receive goods. Except where consumer law says otherwise, Gleam It is not a party to the transfer of an item between members and does not guarantee condition, safety, authenticity, compatibility, or delivery.

3. Listings and prohibited goods

  • Only list goods you own or are authorised to exchange, with accurate photos, condition, defects, recall status, and material safety information.
  • Do not list illegal, recalled, counterfeit, unsafe, stolen, hygienically unsuitable, age-restricted, or prohibited goods, or content that violates privacy or intellectual-property rights.
  • AI-generated descriptions, condition suggestions, photos, and price research are assistance only. You remain responsible for review and accuracy.
  • Gleam It may remove a photo, return a listing to draft, or restrict content, with an auditable reason.

4. Gleam Points

  • Points are a limited contractual feature for arranging exchanges on Gleam It. They are not money, electronic money, property, a bank deposit, or a transferable or redeemable financial instrument.
  • A listing’s suggested points are based on its original price, condition, category, item type, and configured adjustments. The server-controlled value shown at request time governs the hold.
  • When a request is made, the required points are held in escrow and unavailable to spend. They are returned if the request is declined, expires, or is validly cancelled.
  • After required receipt confirmations, base points are released to the giver. Eligible membership multipliers, referral rewards, Founding Member listing rewards, five-star giver-rating rewards, or administrator corrections are recorded as separate ledger entries.
  • Bonuses may have eligibility limits and anti-abuse checks. Points cannot be sold, transferred outside supported exchanges, cashed out, or used after account deletion. We may correct duplicate, erroneous, fraudulent, or reversed entries while preserving an audit trail.

5. Requests, handover, cancellation, and disputes

Members may ask questions before requesting. A request reserves points; acceptance reserves the listing. Members choose and bear responsibility for collection, delivery, postage, packaging, and any related costs. Confirm receipt only after receiving the item. Follow the cancellation controls and provide truthful reasons. Report safety, fraud, harassment, no-shows, or material description problems promptly.

6. Membership and Stripe billing

Paid plans, prices, billing periods, benefits, taxes, renewal terms, and any trial are shown before checkout. Stripe processes payment. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through billing controls before renewal. Cancellation normally stops future renewal while access continues to the paid-through date unless law, the checkout terms, or an account-removal action requires immediate cancellation. Mandatory EU consumer cancellation and refund rights are not limited by these Terms.

7. Conduct and communications

Use messages only for genuine item and handover questions. Do not harass, threaten, spam, solicit off-platform payment for points, impersonate others, scrape data, evade restrictions, or interfere with the service. Ratings must reflect a completed exchange and must not be manipulative or retaliatory.

8. Warnings, suspension, and removal

We may warn or suspend an account to protect the community or investigate suspected breaches. A suspended member may sign in in read-only mode, see the reason and relevant history, and reply only in the administrator account-review thread. They cannot publish, save, request or complete swaps, or send ordinary messages. Account removal is distinct: access ends, listings are removed, in-progress swaps are cancelled and held points returned, and the subscription is cancelled. Administrators receive consequence notices and must record a reason and confirmation. You may contact us to request review.

9. Intellectual property

You retain rights in content you submit and grant Gleam It a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, moderate, resize, display, and distribute it only to operate, secure, and promote the service and its listings. The Gleam It service, branding, code, and non-user content remain protected.

10. Liability

Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including fraud, wilful misconduct, or mandatory consumer rights. To the extent permitted by law, Gleam It is not liable for indirect loss or member-to-member acts and its aggregate contractual liability is limited to membership fees paid by you in the preceding 12 months. Counsel must confirm the final limitation for Portuguese consumer law.

11. Changes, law, and contact

We may change the service or these Terms for legal, security, or product reasons. Material changes will be notified with reasonable notice where required. Portuguese law applies, without depriving EU consumers of mandatory protections in their country of residence. Portuguese courts have jurisdiction subject to mandatory consumer venue rules and available EU/Portuguese dispute-resolution rights. Contact: [email protected].
